Direct damage, unpreventable, madness damage, and a hasty goblin you can play for free; not the strongest of the play-for-free things, but aspirational.

Maybe an unpreventable discard? So, what: "Instant - Split Second, target player discards a card"? That's strong. Probably unprintable at any cost anyone would use.

Unpreventable madness? What would that mean? Well, for starters, it means I've got my card name.

Ok, so how about "You either discard or you pay life"; red's had that before. Could do it, I guess. An avoidable pyroclasm for cheaper? Mehhhh.

There are plenty of variations on "{b}, Sorcery (or even instant), target player discards a card". So a split-second variation seems quite reasonable and interesting.

I think you might want the choice to be discard or lose two life. Unless you want the damage to be preventable.
