"Battlegear" is an Equipment, but "Armor" is an Aura... if its made of something SPI... spiritual like... wood?
Mod subtypes is dependent on the keyword used to attach and vice versa.

Well, names then should in turn dependent on that subtype. This doesn't need to reuse an existing cardname if that name is no longer a sensible choice with the changes you make to the underlying system, right?
some cards may retain the name from officially released card to evoke nostalgia and give a sense of comparison. as long as they function almost identically.
if you mean "armor" must necessarily be equipment, naming conventions don't have to be that strict. not here, not in Magic, not in the real world.
