Winning and Losing
Trinity ways to end the game:
- A Player loses when they have zero (0) or less life.
- A Player loses when they try to draw a card from an empty library.
- A Player wins when they earn a total of seven (7) victory points. Activating a Scene's Climax earns two (2) VP and Planeswalker's Ultimate three (3) VP.
Attacking and Blocking
Trinity between flying, subsurface, and neither (normal).
- Flying can only be blocked by other flying and by reach.
- Subsurface can't be blocked by flying.
- Consequently, a creature with both flying and subsurface can only be blocked by a creature with reach but no flying.
Energies
Trinity between biological, material, and spiritual permanents. Denoted on card as symbol before the type line.
- BIO = Most creatures are bio. Dealing with carbon-based lifeforms.
- MAT = Artifacts, lands, and some creatures are material. Dealing with material, molecular, nonliving.
- SPI = Enchantments and some creatures are spirit. Dealing with spirits, undead, divine, otherwordly, mystical energy.
