The Vorthos element of my cycle for Challenge # 093.

The odd terminology is matching Fractured Powerstone. This card is certainly usable outside of Planechase games though. I was after some "trinket text" (rules text that's unlikely to do anything, like on Vindictive Mob or Baneslayer Angel) that'd help this appeal to Vorthos.

With 4 mana up, this is a Rebuke overcosted by 1. With 6 mana up, though, it's a Wing Shards that doesn't need another spell. Or you can just cast it sometime you have {w}{w} spare, and then it's a Soul Snare with {2} up, and a massive deterrent with {4} or more up.

I hope the flavour would speak for itself to those who know Elspeth's story. For those who don't: Elspeth Tirel's original home plane was devastated by Phyrexians. Her planeswalker spark awoke in response to a Phyrexian jailer coming to take her away to be tortured.

Ha! I knew exactly who this card was for as soon as I saw the words 'planar die'. This almost reads a bit random, but I'm guessing that any Vorthos worth their salt would know that story. It doesn't really matter if the rest of us don't get it, eh?
