Um. Yes. Colour density isn't worth THAT much; after all, to a mono-green deck this is not harder to cast than a {g}{2} is. It's quite likely to hit the board on turn 2.

And, well, ok, it's not going to win the game outright on turn 3. But it's quite a bit meatier than might be expected.

The Baloth was printed in Zendikar, 5 years ago. This is not part of modern creature creep.
