Created for Challenge # 070. Guessing at the challenges of Dragon's Maze: one challenge will be to give each of the ten guild representation in a set with not many cards. One obvious way to deal with this is to let cards be affiliated with more than one guild.
I doubt they'll actually do ten new combined watermarks though :P
Plausible collaborations, flavour-wise:
Boros-Azorius, via law enforcement
Boros-Selesnya, via peacekeeping
Orzhov-Azorius - powerful aristocrats, slow control
Izzet to each of Boros, Azorius, Orzhov, Simic - making devices to be used by them
Golgari-Rakdos
Dimir to almost any guild - Dimir has double agents everywhere
Golgari-Selesnya - common love of growth?
Golgari-Simic - bolster nature with somewhat unnatural means, use +1/+1 counters
Rakdos-Gruul - love smashing stuff for its own sake
This particular card isn't especially efficient when used in either Azorius or Boros (though it's stonking if you manage to cast it for ). It's a less-good Azorius Arrester or a much-less-good Skyknight Legionnaire. Perhaps this should be 3/2 or 2/3 rather than 2/2, so a or deck can play it without feeling ashamed?
Ah! "If was spent to play this" is an interesting take on it. I was trying to think of good ways of combining guilds, but couldn't find anything I actually liked much.
