For Challenge # 064. Another way to look at CDEF is to focus on what's missing. I didn't want to lead with this design since this is an old card for me. I designed it and a cycle of four other avatars for a set I made back in 2007 or so codenamed 'Geraldo'. The cycle include:
An avatar name that expresses the one thing the fifth color could not possibly be, but that the other four colors were capable of exhibiting.
CDEF casting cost
Protection from the fifth color
An ability that doesn't come out and say that its hating the fifth color... but it's pretty clear who it's gunning for.
2007 takes me back. That's the year I graduated high school. I had never even played Magic back then...
I really like the concept of your cycle. Looking at "what's missing" is my favorite way to design four color cards, and I don't usually like the results when I don't use that method.
