Circle of solace + Plateau

Circle of protection: Dual Lands!

Nice. Although it also gets people out of colourscrew a bit more effectively than you might have intended. "Whenever a nonbasic land ETBs"?

"It can produce"

If you can find a basic forest that can produce red, go for it :)

Heck, if you can find a reason to make your forests produce only {1}, go for that, too :)

I'm trying to think of good lands you can combo this with on your side, but I'm kind of drawing a blank. You could pair it with lands that don't tap for mana, like Maze of Ith and Dark Depths... but then you'd lose their other abilities... so that was kind of like playing any other land. You could play it with lands that have ETB triggers... which is cute... but all the lands from Zendikar with an ETB trigger already added a colored mana... so again, that could have been any land at that rate. I think the lands this comboes with just haven't been printed yet...

Well yeah; it's intended as a Blood moon style hoser. It... may work with the shock-lands and pain lands? As in, you still get the "I got the colour I need" part, without the price? (Heck, City of Brass)

you don't get to choose what colour it is every time you use it... but you do get to remove the other downsides. So maybe useful to your own side if you build around it enough?

upcost by 1, mainly to match cost of other cprots

Oh. I took "chooses a colour of mana it can produce" as "Okay, I choose that this Plains can produce blue mana now". Evilbad words.

How's this? "Whenever a nonbasic land ETBs, its controller chooses a basic land type. That land becomes that type and loses all other abilities." Except that I feel like that should be green, or maybe blue.

Eh; that then works the way Alex has it. I kinda did want to do that, but mainly wanted the whole "it generates what one of what it could generate" thing.

Well, ok, actually I just want "{1}: Protection from funny land" but :) (Well, there's Desert... and Inkblight doom moth and... ok, it makes sense in blue. Which has it.)

clarify clause

Clarified, I hope - though now it might be possible to use it to lock in a Blood Moon. I can live with unlikely interactions like that, I think.

How about "When a land enters the battlefield, its controller chooses a colour. It can't produce any other colour of mana and loses all non-mana abilities."?

That still allows the choice of any colour. Oh no; I see - it doesn't grant any colour mana ability.

I think I quite LIKE the "Makes some lands better" part now, though.

The argument about what color this card is is kind of funny... especially since the one card I can think of that hosed in a similar sort of way before is Tsabo's Web...
