This is very confusing to read (even I had trouble writing it).
Why isn't this just:

(Alternate wording:)

Well, this way has flavour (possibly not enough to justify the complexity) and triggers artifact destruction and etb triggers (which is a big thing) and also clears off other auras, attachments (even other forms of counter, if that has somehow happened)... But yeah, 99% of the time Alex' wording will work out the same. (Assuming Alex adds "You control")
