I thought I was so clever making a lichen with creature type "fungus plant". "It's a biology joke" I thought, now all my biologists will forgive me for magic's creature type system lumping all "birds" into one category. "How much abuse do the creature types fungus and plant get? But this is perfect."
Of course, I totally forgot to search gatherer for any existing "plant fungus"s and find lichenthrope had been helpfully updated at some point to have the indisputably correct creature type.
Can we just pretend this was a deliberate reference to that?
it grows slowly yet exponentially, like fungus would, although i think you wouldnt be able to note the growth so much in the pace of today's magic games, i think this card needs to "grow" more fast so players sense that 'slow at first but uncontrolable later' growth feeling, maybe change the numbers from 3 counters to 2 counters, if its too powerful you could make it a 0/1, even though that conflicts with wizards stance on creatures with +1/+1 counters being mostly one creatures with power=toughness so you dont have to do much math, although they do it when its needed.
