Dull, but workable. Multiverse keeps giving me vanguard form random card; which is odd, because I cannot search for them.

It would probably be a little better if you pushed the two abilities a little closer together. "Whenever a creature you control dies, you may put it on top of your library. If you do, gain 1 life." Alternatively, if you wanted, you could go big with this card, make it a 4/6 with an ability that lets any player put dead creatures on top of their library, but if they do, you gain 4 life.
