I want the cycle to be 2/2 for CC, but that unfortunately makes the common one tricky. Green is one of the few colors that gets 2/2s at all, and should get MORE for GG, as it often gets 2/2 with a small bonus for 1G. However, I didn't want the common to be that overwhelming, so I stopped with the nice-but-not-overpowering creature-scry effect.
I decided creature-scry was a reasonable green choice (I also considered blue), as it smooths out your deck, but only if it's full of decent creatures to start with.
I wasn't sure about the color flavour-wise, but I decided "natural" was a good fit for potential slayers. I considered trying to go for the "preparation" and "look to the future" flavour (inspired by Kendra) which would be blue, but didn't think I could capture it mechanically.
Hmm, Beast Hunt / Gift of the Gargantuan on a bear? Plausible, but it's quite good compared with Elvish Visionary.
...Oh, wait, it's just on top of library. OK, that's fine then. It could even be a drawback, if you're wanting another land; I'd make it optional.
Thank you! Yeah, the "draw a... no wait, to the top of your library" thought process was exactly the one I went through. Normally I hate "to the top of your library" cards as it feels so annoying they you don't get it, and then a let down when you finally do, but as a little bonus it felt just right: more like "making your next draw what it SHOULD have been" rather than "wasting a spell to get more spells".
Good point about mandatory. I debated briefly if it should be, and decided "more creatures" was more green, but you're right, if that land-screws you that's really annoying. I'll make it optional after all, that's barely stronger and a lot more convenient.
Green could probably get "may put a creature or land on top" which would really help filter, but still fit green's theme, but that doesn't fit the slayer flavour.
