Oooh, sunkissed llanowar hawks. I likey.

Nifty idea.

Originally, this was a land creature. However, with enchantment creatures already in white, and the general complication of land creatures, I thought we'd probably want to stay away from that.

A+

Though the activation may need to come up to {2}{g}. It is, after all, incredibly good.

I just took the ability cost straight from Llanowar Sentinel.

Incredibly good? Really? It's {1}{g}{g} for, effectively, a 0/2 that taps for {g}{g}. I mean, that's nice (and in an emergency you can drop it for {g} which is VERY nice.) but for {2}{g} you get two lands of any colour; and for {2}{g}{g} you get Sachi who makes half your creatures tap for {g}{g} (and the other half get tougher)

Seems about the right cost to me. It does open up quadruple green costs, but you have to be double already so it's not all that splashable. Now, if there was more "Search for a creature" in the set, I'd worry; but as it is it seems fair.

Incredibly good. Llanowar's one point of power is almost irrelevant, and they could start printing 0/1s that tap to make {g} in the next set, if they wanted to.

It's very easy to look at one casting cost of a scaleable card and make it look fair. After all, Braingeyser only draws you two cards for {2}{u}{u}. It's better to compare this card to current mana accelerators. Would you play this, as printed, over Llanowar Elves? Absolutely. Not even a question. Now consider that Llanowar Elves has a rating of 4.385 on Gatherer.

How about making it a death trigger and searching the card to hand?

I think I'd prefer to make this a 1/1 for {1}{g} with the Llanowar Sentinel ability, rather than nerf the self-search ability as Jack suggests.

This worked nicely in the playtest.

I do still agree with jmg that it's a bit too good, and I still think we should try it at {1}{g} 1/1. But the basic nice things people were saying about it (it's an accelerant that's useful early on and is useful late-game) are all still true in that case, so it ought to be okay.

I changed the casting cost based on testing, not based on my opinion of the card. I kind of wish I didn't make my point so admatantly before. Sometimes I forget that my role is to observe what other people think, not to take sides.

FWIW, I think you're doing fine. It's very good to avoid narcism in that sort of role :) But I think it's good to keep expressing opinions, as long as that doesn't supress other people from expressing their opinions, and I don't think it has been doing, at all :)

jmg: I'd hate to see you sit out all the arguments because you feel you need to be impartial. You're one of the top designers on Multiverse; the Head Designer's role is to oversee, sure, but not to remain impartial. Think of all the times MaRo's described arguing passionately for some particular mechanic or other :)

Okay, okay, enough with the compliments. They're appreciated, but you'll threaten to swell my head, push me in the other direction and turn me into a Fascist Art Director. :)

Really like this. It's great turn one, it's great turn 3, it leads you into huge doom, or a swarm of chump blockers, turn 6. Like it a lot.
