The rules do not say what happens when trying to move a spell that isn't a card from the stack to the battlefield, but I made up such a rule in my own set, which is that in that case, the new object in the battlefield is a token rather than its original kind.
With Zendikar Rising, they printed a cards that copies permanent spells. There's now printed precedent.
What are the rules for doing so?
They are the obvious implementation; as reminder text it states that a copy of a permanent spell creates a token.
This was somewhat foreshadowed on Krosan Adaptation, but yes, it's finally coming with Lithoform Engine and Verazol, the Split Current (with custom card designers having been wanting it for years).

OK, good they have it now, although I generally wait for the new version of the Comprehensive Rules to be published. (In this case, the rules I wrote are probably compatible anyways, but I will wait to make sure.)
