Created for a "change history" design challenge. See also Bruna, Besieged Mind.

Conversely, I don't like this. Firstly Gisela is a boring beatstick. Technically that's within her range of influence since both her cards have been just that but I still feel like it should be more interesting than another baneslayer angel mockery.

As for the meld, I like the colourless-hate thematically but I do question the reasoning and usefulness. I can imagine a D&T hatebear that would have the same two anti colourless lines of text and it would still be as much of a silver bullet as Stony Silence. It's just very narrow and not something you'd expect from the hoops you need to jump through to meld. Lorewise, it makes sense for them to hate colourless but it seems strange that the meld is similar to Brisela (what with the 'opponents cant cast X' theme) which doesn't make sense since Brisela never happened here and the angels don't do that by themselves.

Finally, she's a big beatstick for sure but once melded you lose Bruna's reanimation ability! It almost feels like a downside to meld the two.

I mean, every Gisela card has been just a beat stick. I agree that the triggered ability on Bruna feels bad with melding. Other Bruna had a cast trigger, so it had some interesting utility prior to melding that wasn't "taken away" when you melded

fix line wrapping

I have a lot of fondness for the original Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. She is a beatstick, but she also synergises particularly well with your own first strikers / double strikers. The problem is that the current wording for meld takes up so many words that there really isn't room for anything interesting on the front side here, especially with wanting a mirrored flavour text to the EMN Gisela.

This triplet ended up one of the three runners-up in the contest, which I was fairly happy about. The commenters mostly liked it but really wished they'd been partners so you could have both of them as commanders, but that would need even more words.

I mean it could have had partner and not meld. Would make more sense since Melding is explicitly an eldrazi thing (atm) and it would alleviate the issues faced by Bruna being a better card than the meld pair.

It's good, don't get me wrong but it also feels like you just flipped the coin over instead of wondering what would actually happen had the two angels not been mind warped. As ironic as it sounds, the reality would not mirror the alternate universe at all methinks.

And even if it did I think there's a better way of showing that "Gisela and Bruna can fight eldrazi good" besides having them kill flyers. I mean why do they smite down Dawn Gryff and not Mockery of Nature?

The trinket text on the back side (after the three abilities shared with Gisela) is all specifically anti-Emrakul. They didn't just fight the Eldrazi spawn, they took down the titan. (Somehow. It's not like I worked out an entire backstory. This was more emotional catharsis than full alternate history :P)

And yes, it's reinterpreting the flavour of meld. But frankly, I'm expecting meld to come back sometime in the next 5-15 years, and I'm pretty certain the flavour will be very different next time it does. But this was designed as an alternate pair of cards for Eldritch Moon, the set that introduced meld as its big splashy mechanic, and I can't imagine the story highlight legendary pair would use a different "two go together" mechanic and not meld.
