For Challenge # 019. The idea is that every card has a Recover number. As an activated ability at sorcery speed, you can discard N cards to return a creature with Recover N from your graveyard to your hand.

This provides an automatic use for late-game lands or unneeded early drops. Most recover numbers (such as Grizzly Bears) will be vaguely close to the card's CMC. On the other hand, this guy is an example of an irritating creature that doesn't stay dead.

It probably wouldn't be sane to print a card with Recover 0... but I suspect, if Magic had been designed this way from the start, then Recover 0 would have happened and Wild Mongrel wouldn't have.
