Psyche is an interesting mechanic. It'll normally be card disadvantage, and I can't help feeling in most cases people would be better not using their psyche abilities. But occasionally it'll let you get ahead.

I'm not sure about "exile it" rather than "skip that draw". Obviously it's much better if you know the top card of your library, but it feels like it'd lend itself to a lot of moments like "Argh, if I'd known that was the card I'd draw I wouldn't have psyched it!"

This is an interesting comment because it brings up all three of the points we took into account when creating Psyche.

  1. "Card disadvantage" - the way we designed Psyche, it's not so much pure disadvantage as it is replacing your "unknown" draw with a "known" effect (in this case, Battlegrowth). While the commons Psyche effects (especially this cycle) are a little underwhelming, there are others that I feel are very powerful (Itzent Stormseeker turns every draw into a guaranteed Shock).

  2. Being able to skip draws would mesh very, very poorly with Dementia.

  3. To counteract accidentally exiling good cards, there's a cycle (and a half) of cards that reveal the top card for a potential effect (e.g. (((Galerider Mage)))). And even in the moments where you do mill a good card, it'll often still be the right play, and I feel players would eventually become accustomed to that.

Yeah, as I looked at the set more I saw there were quite a lot of ways to look at the top card of your library, which is very sensible. I think the mechanic needs an unusual set around it, but I think you've created that set excellently.
