Virulent Wound + Hoof and Horn

So a pair of instants. Sort of wither 1, and minotaur-tribal boost which (ab)uses the deathtouch-trample combo.

Both are kind of "Hurt a critter, and the player behind that critter".

I already did "Target player fights target creature" somewhere. Which is a shame, it's a nice implementation of it.

How about a variant on the white 'personal incarnation' ability - being able to throw that around for a bit feels like a sensible thing. Very flexible - save a creature at the cost of life; or pretend that you didn't get blocked after all.

I consider this a black effect (even without Treacherous Link). White has the opposite effect with Pariah and such.

Blood of the Martyr used to be a white ability way back when. Black used to have the opposite with Simulacrum.

To be honest, I'm not sure why the flavor switch happened. Shielding your creatures by throwing yourself in the way of the oncoming damage sounds like something a white planeswalker would do. Tossing a minion in front of your opponent's fireball sounds like something a black planeswalker would do.

Turning an opponent's creature into Filthy Cur is flavorwise corrupting the bond and turning the creature into a selfish minion that won't suffer for the greater cause and take their master with them.

Doing the same to your own creature would be voluntary and hence acceptable in white since you actually decide to take on the pain of another without being forced to do so by an external influence.

Further discussion can be made on the difference "controller" and "owner" make in the text of the card. Since this card can be used offensively, I agree, that it is tinged black.

Hmm, these are good points well made. I wonder if naming the card "Selflessness" and having it target a player (who then takes damage for a creature) would be enough to remove the blackness.

Only your own creature would of course be white enough. I didn't actally think very hard about writing 'owner' instead of 'controller'. But maybe that can be serendipitous...

Yeah, I'm going to do that. It's now a puzzle piece, with a perfectly normal use of 'save your own creature' and a sneaky use of 'Zedruu will regret this'.

add 'you control' to target; but keep 'owner' on result.
