Irradiated Catacombs
For Challenge # 137. Still monkeying with alternate costs, this one ended up not a B/G land with a B/G creature attached.
I'm unsure as to whether copying creatures in your graveyard is really B/G. It seems fine to me. I'm sure Link will point out I need blue somewhere, and that no, Spitting Image is not a good defense. Still... it would be nice to see these two colors get together to do something like this on occasion.
That's a cute idea. The concept itself, however, seems too expensive to put to good use. Maybe we can find some alternative ways to make man-lands? Ones that don't involve tapping 8 lands to turn 2 lands on?
Burning Desert, looking for man-land tribal...
See Challenge # 137.
Interesting. At 2 toughness, this will almost always die, which basically makes it a land that sacrifices for its effect.
Oh, whoops, no you can not. Also, you can never attack with it (though, you could block... but only if you found a way to untap it.) I guess that limits what you can do with the card considerably.
Can you activate it without a target?
It's still a 2/2, technically (and you can activate it outside of combat, which is kind of awkward.) But, so is Mishra's Factory, I suppose.
While I guess you could throw some combat tricks onto to buff it, isn't this basically "

,
: Deal 2 damage to target attacking or blocking creature." Unless you think that the ability is powerful enough that it needs to be nerfed, being a creature makes it easier to remove than a land. Oh, I orgot fight deals damage back to you, so that makes htis extra vulnerable.

Murderise
Sandcat Nest again combining a few previous ideas.
See Challenge # 137.
Hill Gullies
For Challenge # 137. Still playing with the drawback. This time, I figured I try a Dryad Arbor that didn't result in a blowout. Sill devastating if your opponent has an Unsummon or an exile effect... but at least it's less likely.
Marsh Phantasms
See Challenge # 137.
I don't think this is exactly printable as-is, but I was intrigued by the idea of combining a drawback that was relevant to the creature but also applied to the land.
Looter's Cliffs a man-land built around the bonus ability.
See Challenge # 137.
Another possible variant on a man-land, although I don't think it's too likely, is to have a different bonus ability, but turn into a small creature, both for the bonus of sneaking in an extra 1 damage, and the drawback of creature removal.
Oh yes, good idea. I like the creature too, though I don't know what exact cost would be best.
Shambling Vent 2. Not really a different design, but I wanted to play with a different way of templating it... I think I tried this before but I can't remember where...

Added Fireball Island and Forbidden Belfry.
For Challenge # 137. I wanted to play with the drawback, and it occurred to me that I could make the land meaner if I balanced the creature side to make up for it. Maybe the creature half isn't aggressive enough. I'm not sure. I figured +2/+1 and flying for
compared well to Shambling Vent.
