i think so, protection from creatures is a pretty strong ability to grant so making it multicolour helps mitigate that
Yay! Challenge #149 got a jump start! Added Tolarian Custodian.
For Challenge # 149. Based on Cenobite Custodian. I had to drop the phyrexian mana, or we might never drag ourselves out of that plane.
In theory, blue is supposed to be in charge of the 'weird' protections. But this rarely comes up. And I'm pretty sure that no mono-blue card would be in charge of any of these protections individually. But what color would get this ability then? Would this need to be a

creature by default?
Cenobite Custodian
See Challenge # 149.
Vertical cycle with Cenobite's Judgement. Normal mana cost with life mana activated ability.
made rare
Roborosewater adds Teferi's Curse... I guess.
Cenobite's Judgement
For Challenge # 149, and part of a cycle with Underworld Network. The idea is that this card is part of a loose cycle that involves each color forcing discard in some way.
Originally, this was supposed to be closer to Karmic Justice for discard. My plan was to have this trigger whenever a spell or ability an opponent controls destroys this enchantment's controller's permanents. But then it occurred to me that people would expect Lightning Bolt to trigger that card when it wouldn't (Lightning Bolt doesn't destroy a creature; the damage it deals does.) I also thought about adding a damage dealing clause to the Karmic Justice ability, but that would make Disfigure strange. Figured it was better to just switch over to the damage dealing side of things as trigger.
And yes, I know that even in New Phyrexia this is a stretch. They did some weird things in that set, so maybe this is okay. Karmic Justice isn't technically in color pie, either... though it's a much older card.
Heh. Cute. I can imagine getting all five enchantments out would be called 'Taking a tour of the city'.
Underworld Network
See Challenge # 149 based on Backalley Network
It took me a while to think of something else that could go with Backalley Network, so I envisaged a cycle of enchantments like Grinding Station and friends. It's a shame they're all double-color 4-cost, as it's so hard to get 5 out together. I wasn't sure how to cost this one (or whether it should be "each" or "one or more") so it was effective without being oppressive.
Added Backalley Network. Jack didn't use a rarity, so neither did I. That seems smart for this challenge.
For Challenge # 149 based on Clawthrone Bear.
Hot Coal Elemental with 3, 6, 3, 6.
See Challenge # 148 with 3, 6, 3, 6.
This may be hard to get going, because small creatures like this don't have that much they could cycle with. But I have faith in people's creativity, once there's a few more entries it'll be easier.
Clawthrone Bear based on Bloodthrone Vampire
See Challenge # 149, based on Bloodthrone Vampire
I'm not sure how this is going to go, but the idea is, pretend the previous card (or any other card in the thread) is part of a cycle, and design another card from that cycle.
Usually try to choose a different cycle, but feel free to add 3rd, 4th etc cards to a cycle if you like.
They won't all be perfect matches, eg. if a previous card doesn't really follow modern design guidelines, feel free to pretend it does.
Bonus points for finding a natural way to switch between creature and non-creature.
I chose a random card from gatherer to start it off:
Bloodthrone Vampire
Learning Cub with 6,2,3,6.
I moved the numbers around this time, I had too many 6 power or 6 toughness cards.
When I put a number in the rules text I keep redesigning it and forgetting the number. But this time it went somewhere interesting even if ridiculous.
See Challenge # 148.
