On further reflection, Rising Waters was a bit too dominating for my tastes. Changed from "untap a land" to "untap two lands", which should still give you a high sense of control on a 5/4 beat stick, without auto-shutting down your opponent. I originally wanted this to have the line "When ~ enters the battlefield, tap all lands", but that was four lines of text, and four is a bit too many. If you want, you can imagine that that's a secret line of text she has, though.
For your shopping convenience, I have added Princess Lucrezia of Urborg to our merry cast of characters. I tried to work some mojo with Lord Magnus... something about removing all land types from all lands, but I just couldn't pull anything exciting from it.
Challenge # 006. I always thought Princess Lucrezia and Riven Turnbull were very strange, what with them costing 6-7 mana, only to give you... one more mana. I tried to imagine a scenario where after paying so much mana, you would be happy that the creature supplied you with a little more mana as well. Rising Waters seemed like a good choice...
"You don't ask why a plague spreads or why a field burns. Don't ask why I fight."
Ha! Good point. Then you are stuck. There was a time when people didn't think Shroud was such a bad ability, but now that everything is Hexproof, no one likes stinky old Shroud anymore.
This is my attempt at my own challenge (((Sivitri Scarzam, Dragonmistress))). I have several other ideas as well that I will hold off on until others have posted theirs.
changng the name slightly makes sense; I have modified the challenge accordingly.
As to the storyline? Legends didn't have a storyline - at all. Wizards later tried to give some of the Legends Legends (heh) a backstory in some early novels/comics but for this challenge Ignore them.
"'gains hexproof' would probably do wonders for cutting through all that text."
Well, the trouble with hexproof is it doesn't really work if you want to stop your opponent playing spells on their creatures. It could be shroud, but that would seem less snazzy.
"gains hexproof" would probably do wonders for cutting through all that text.
I'd also say something about using the old sensibility of just saying "Jedit" when you mean ~, but it would seem odd to use modern keywords with old templating, I suppose.
It is possible that no one knows the Legends storyline. I am quite sure that the people who wrote books for Magic, at the time, had no idea what the story was. :p
Most of these dudes, though, didn't really have a story. But the guy's name is Barktooth Warbeard! Couldn't you just imagine what cool adventures he went on (in second edition D&D)!
Changed typeline, added art.
This is fun. I don't know any of the Legends storyline, so I hope I didn't somehow violate it. I want to make more entries later, but I'm working at a marching band camp, so I don't have much time right now.
