Namuginga, the Shaper his assistant Walumbe, Namuginga's Assistant and his increasingly funky-costed instant Judged by Namuginga. Explanation on the planeswalker.
You may also like the current Oracle wording of Gliding Licid. It's a creature which says "Enchanted creature has flying" even if you have no intention of turning it into an Aura :)
Ooo. Yes. Because Sunburst's rules say "each color of mana spent to cast it", and the cost to cast it is (mana cost + additional costs - cost reductions). You can still only get 2 counters though.
Here's one idea: Resplendent Phoenix. Pretty useless unless it's a commander, where it becomes better and better every time it dies and is reborn :)
Love the concept of a flying enchantment.
Not very sensible:http://multiverse.heroku.com/cards/9467 and http://multiverse.heroku.com/cards/9468
If this is your general, and its died, can you cast it with X=0, additional cost
and still get the counters?
You can play this in an EDH deck with a five-colour general, and get it up to 5 easily. I'd probably put it in my Cromat EDH deck.
Yeah, I almost went with a pure hydra type thing. This is limited to 2, sadly. (well, I guess you can overpay, but to no effect)
Good idea. I like the idea of an X-cost/sunburst general you can play on turn 1, or may prefer to play later.
Heh, glad it works at that. I typically fail at templating. The 'non-artifact' thing was a last minute addition for pure symmetry that doesn't really serve any purpose. Glad its non-purpose of looking pretty worked :)
I like the feel of "remove a counter from this: put a counter on that". It evokes the way Pentavus just lets you slide the glass bead on and off the card. I also like the mirrored "target noncreature artifact" vs "target nonartifact creature"... it's kinda Melviny, but I do.
Indeed you're limited to 2 colours and that makes it less wonderful as a general than otherwise. I mainly aimed for an interesting card that could be a decent general, rather than an overly good general. And it's still a 2/2 with funny tricks :)
You can't sunburst it for more than 2 if it's your commander, because if your commander is blue-black you can never ever get red, green or white mana in your pool in any way. (Okay, I guess you could sunburst 5 it with Mycosynth Lattice, because that lets you spend mana as if it were green even though you can never actually have green mana.)
Nonetheless, interesting. I like "remove a counter" rather than "remove a +1/+1 counter": lets you do more amusing things :)
Etched Parasite is my attempt. I wanted something for x, and that lead me to sunburst and I already knew I wanted some colour abilities to let you have colours in your general, so it seemed natural. It's not quite wonderful as a general, but it's very usable as one.
For Challenge # 007 - though it's not that wonderful there, it's more interesting if you can cast it for 5 later on. Note: You're limited to
, not to
if this is your commander.
But players start with 30 life (or 40 in some rulesets), so an efficient 2/2 is relevant for a rather smaller proportion of the game; and probably even less if the game is multiplayer, as EDH traditionally is. EDH is thought of as "the format for big spells"; things like Collective Voyage only fuel that.
Yeah, I don't much mind if the entries are 1 or 2 colours (or 0). 3+ would be somewhat harder, although I suppose not completely impossible.
There's a train of thought that says that Isamaru is one of the best commanders in the format, since he's so efficient, and you don't have to put any other 1CC creatures in your deck, trimming your needs. I admit, though, mono-white can be a pain to build around. It should be interesting to see how many people go to the Hybrid well to make their Legendary creatures playable with more deck archetypes.
A bit funny to have another challenge dealing with legendary creatures just after Challenge # 006. But I did make this one up several weeks ago and I've been saving it till now.
There are so far three one-drop legends. Rhys the Redeemed makes a very good Commander. Isamaru, Hound of Konda and Norin the Wary, rather less so.
I don't know if this might turn out to be rather hard.
Just realised the flavourful symbiosis with vigilant creatures.
Nice!
Sir Shandlar, Defender of Eberyn is another from me.
