Made uncommon because; well, would you enjoy being stuck with 5 of them?
Psichic Ankus [sic]
For Challenge # 068
OK, I made this as much of a mess as possible. It's really hard to make something which is bad in an interesting way, rather than just bad.
Addressing Whatisthisidonteven for Challenge # 068
My first attempt was a totem armour.
Thinking about it - I made it work; but how often are you gonna get the advantage of bringing a creature back with more power and hastiness? An opponent has to foolishly kill it in your main1 (or you need a second combat phase, or some other thing to do with its newfound power. Ah well, file under 'live the dream' I guess) and at least alt mode is always there as a not-terrible life-gain for green. It could exile the critter I guess; but nah, I don't see a huge problem with multiple casts of this.
I tried this as Leader of the Flock
I think I got it working in Totemic Regrowth
For my "Horribad card" I present: Slow right the heck down,I want to do something strange
And I took the least bad, to my mind, and fixed up Flock of Seagulls into Leader of the Flock
And, yeah, ok - address the ridiculouness with Totemic Regrowth (so named because my first attempt was a totem armour)

Fixing up Flock of Seagulls for Challenge # 068
So, it's really a lot simpler as a creature, rather than an enchant. And various wording changes.
So now it's the herald of a flock of gulls; rather than being the flock itself as a noun-sorcery. And the birds don't magically stop flying when the leader dies; either. (Though they do get smaller.)
Hm. On the one hand, this effectively costs 6, because you have to play it tapped on the turn you want to use it.
On the other hand, in most formats, a 6-cost wrath is quite playable, we're just spoiled by having (usually exactly one at once) 4-cost wrath variant in standard, and having cycling is a big plus, so in some ways this is Akroma's Vengeance which cycles for 3 life and always cycles to a land.
On the first hand, you presumably rarely WANT to cycle your wrath, since if you have more creatures, you're probably not under pressure, and if you have fewer creatures, you probably want to cast it.
On the second hand, I may be pessimistic, but I just assume any spell-effect on a land is broken unless it costs significantly more than it would on a card by itself.
On the gripping hand, it's probably broken with the Orzhov Basilica lands, but I assume development would change it so it was a sac effect or something to prevent that problem.
LOL. Oh, good idea.
To get us started:
Flock of Seagulls
Aerithan, Dragon of Paradox
Paralyzing Slime Spray

For Challenge # 068. This is admittedly unreasonably ridiculous.
Design a card (or several cards) that are intended to be examples of bad design. Then, try to create fixed versions of the awful designs that other people have made. Make sure to indicate which card you're making a fixed version of.
Some types of bad design that could be used (possibly in combination with each other):
-makes the player feel bad
-doesn't work as expected
-extra text/complicated
-card's abilities contradict the flavour
There's probably a lot more that haven't thought of, and I'd to see how many different types of (bad) designs we can come up with collectively.
