I like the idea, but it seems too complicated.
I tried making Shifter's Mist
Based on Breader's Digestion for Challenge # 068
It was originally going to be an anti-tribal fog, but that doesn't really work, since you only want to print it in a tribal block, but it sends mixed messages to have anti-tribal cards.
So, still creature-type based, but hopefully playable.
But did you mean to add
to the throw cost, so it's 8 mana for a cycle rather than 5?
The cheat was an accident. I copied and pasted the text, adding the costs afterwards. I forgot to add the
symbol.
Perhaps the fix is to simply add "When ~ ETBs, draw a card"? Except... no, 8 mana for a card draw and a ping is worse than Ember Shot. Back to the drawing board...
Oh! You cheated! This is even worse than Razor Boomerang! The combo with 2xAuriok Steelshaper 3xEtherium Sculptor 1xBattered Golem doesn't work with this! (You need to add Training Grounds and/or Mana Echoes too.)
I just think the last ability's cost should always include mana. (Or make it attack triggered, like many recent dragons such as Flameblast Dragon. "Whenever ~ attacks, you may pay
or 5 life. If you do, put a 5/5 legendary red flying Dragon creature token named Aerithan onto the battlefield." Somewhat treading on the toes of Utvara Hellkite there, though, I suppose.
Created Leader's Restriction and Mistress of Innovation as fixes of Breader's Digestion and Mistress of the Machine.
Much later, created Harsh Goading as a fix of Psichic Ankus.
I created Mistress of Innovation as an attempted fix of this.
Thank you.
@Alex: It's not the generator's fault. I just twisted two entries together, piecing together things that didn't make sense in the process.
Those first two lines are all generator though. ;)
Ooh, this does have one problem that I deliberately introduced into my bad design Mutato Devil. That'd be excusable if it were a problem in the source card Flock of Seagulls, but this is a problem in the new last ability you added. (That ability I will freely admit is hilarious.)
LOL
What's funny is that
does sometimes feel like the right cost, if something has to be red, but also plays in shared space that's a little bit more black but not exclusively. But I think it's normally a bad idea, and certainly with

and
:)
That is impressively bad.
Gyargh, this is indeed funny. I think it's bad in at least two ways that the random generator shouldn't do (creature without P/T, and static effect turning with hellbent into a spell effect) - but it is definitely amusing, in a cringeworthy kind of way.
I love that casting cost. I could just imagine someone trying to argue that their friend should run this card in their black/red deck while explaining why hybrid eases mana restraints. :p
This is an impressive mess, I'll definitely give you that!
Bahaha!
I created Mutato Devil in the "so bad it's horrible" category. Once my design brain recovers from that self-inflicted ordeal I'll have a go at fixing some of these :)
Created for Challenge # 068. I count at least 8 or 9 different ways in which this is horrible design. Frankly, once you fix them all I'm not sure there's anything left to salvage, but if anyone's up for trying it, I'd love to see what you can manage!
Fair enough reasoning. I'm not averse to making it cost more; but 5 really is the iconic dragon size; so the flavour would have to change.
I'm fascinated to see people's different reactions to the cards. I thought of Psichic Ankus as obviously an instant, that had incorrectly been made (i) blue (ii) an artifact (iii) a curse for flavour reasons. My cleaned up version would have been something like Searing Spear :)
All else aside, I'm pretty sure that the explosive "Pay 15 life: Put 3 dragons into play" isn't really feasable for anything resembling a meta-game. The dragon just wins if your opponent is playing combo or control. There was a time when, if you cast Phyrexian Processor against half of the decks in the environment, they had a two turn clock over their head. It kind of makes the card "Rock, Paper, Scissors". I don't have a problem with that, in theory. Just 5 casting cost is a bit too early in the game for that to happen.
Eh; I figure "Ok, I need to find a way to cast this twice then, don't I?" since it doesn't consume its target. Also, silly me - interacts with fight. That's the way to really use it. "My creature fights!" "Ok, it dies" "Now it gets back up, bigger, and fights again!" "Urggh.."
Probably I ought to rename it to hint at that use.
