I really like the flavour of this cycle, the names and concepts all feel appropriate to a CR phoenix.
Yeah, I thought "return creature with CMC less than" was white, not black, but the examples you give suggest it's just a subset of "return creature".
I'm a little scared by repeatable land destruction even though expensive. But I don't really have the developer-skills to say if it's too good.
Spellfetcher Phoenix
Hmm, I don't know. R&D is big on the land hate recently, but they did print Sylvan Primordial.
It's a slightly-miniature Sun Titan. Fancy.
Neat! I want one.
Before brainstorming for this "set," I'm not sure I'd ever thought of bringing prowl back for anything.
They might. The back face is a lot more powerful.
Pioneer's Phoenix, General's Phoenix, Scholar's Phoenix, Cryptkeeper's Phoenix.
Created for Challenge # 125. Mechanic borrowed from Crypt Champion. I'm a bit vexed that it's not a "both red and black" mechanic the way that the rest of the cycle have mechanics which are to some extent both red and their other colour. The Swift Warkite approach seems a bit too unique for me to want to copy it here though.

Created for Challenge # 125. Is it okay for a rare creature to potentially-repeatedly cast Frenzied Tilling?
Wow. That is indeed off-the-wall thinking. Awesome.
Nice. I wonder whether players would hold off casting the front side due to trying to wait until they meet the prowl condition? No worse than kicker or megamorph or whatever, I guess.
Hm, yes, I could definitely see Prowl coming back for werewolves. As you say, the flavour and mechanic both fit.
I've never heard of Dominic Deegan.
Meinhard here does emphasize the moon connection. I'm glad you think that's a good direction.
Thank you, sir.
Nice design, though. Nice take on a multicoloured phoenix.
@L2i0n0k7: Actually, I would put blue in the werewolf by emphasizing the moon connection. "Moon magic"-themed spells would do a very good job here. You wouldn't even be the first to draw a werewolf/ice connection. The spellwolves of Dominic Deegan have done that theme too.
I do have to point out that this has a very powerful payout for being low on life. That's a good choice.
I added Beloved Priest and Traft, Lord of Echoes.
