and yeah Eldrazi - This is a card from a set I made in MSE with a Lovecraftian/Cthulhu theme - seeing as dude1818 is already posting a similar set here, I decided to not post my set just these few samples.
This is an Elder Horror done with Players having 20 sanity & losing sanity until they lose at 0 much like life. as opposed to Insanity counters as on Hastur, The King in Yellow
Yeah Iwas tossing up between Insanity Counters and a Sanity Score - Sart with 20 Sanity, when it reaches 0 you go insane & lose the game a-la the old Mythos CCG OR
Gain Insanity counters if you have X (thinking 13) you lose the game which would make this risky
Hmm. Without a game losing effect, this pays for itself 2 rounds later (You tap it the turn you play it, even if you don't need the mana). By three rounds after that, say, you should have 33 (32 black mana, reduce the cost of a spell by one) black mana. I should think you could find a way to win with .
Inspired by jmgariepy's ((C19964)) which was , in turn, inspired by link's Altar of Appeasement, here is the Mox Feldspar. Feldspar is a quite common mineral that can be found in many different colours. It is this morphic nature that mages have learned to harness to produce Feldspar Moxen to suit their specific needs. The only drawback is that Feldspar Moxen are slower to recharge than the original Moxen. Most mages are happy to trade reliability for versatility though.
Heh. City of Shadows meets Black Lotus. Except it's a bit more repeatable, although only with tokens or undying creatures or similar. It's a better rate of return than Thermopod or Ashnod's Altar, that's for sure. But it's only once a turn, and the earliest it can give mana is turn 2 and then only if you sac a one-drop. So it's not "auto-include in every deck". It does give you a 5-drop on turn 2 or a 6-drop on turn 3 for a little card disadvantage, so it'd certainly be played in tournaments.

Basically, yeah :-)
Hmm. So the moment this lands, it's a race to pay your sanity in order to cast the next

Gaining things is fun.
to go with Necronomicon Ex Mortis
Bringing the ld Mythos CCG/Lovecraftian Horror to Magic.
As noted on Necronomicon still tossing up between gain 13 Insanity counters & lose the game OR Start with 20 sanity & lose sanity - when 0 you lose

Make it mana burn you! Not exactly the best solution, but it might be a fun idea.

When you control X insanity counters, you lose the game, maybe?
