That was the intention. Progenitus, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, Godsire, etc. I'd say that feels pretty Mythic.
And the once per turn still applies because if someone had a Voltaic Key, then it would be completely ridiculous (as if it wasn't already.)
The "only once per turn" is pointless now that you can't bypass the
in the cost, but by saying "mana cost", now it pays for spells (like Progenitus) in their entirety.
Hopefully, this is finally proper and not completely broken but still good.
easy solution, give it shroud, then it can't target itself. Or reword it to only replace the Mana portion of an activation cost.
"The next time mana would be paid for an activation cost, instead pay
."
It's still a much better Gilded Lotus since you can use the second ability to activate the first for
instead of
and sacrifice. Since the cost replacement doesn't cost
anymore, you can take just 5 mana and run it into this, power its own mana ability into Door to Nothingness (disregarding colors entirely), and set off the bomb during the next upkeep. Sure beats 15 and a turn cycle.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Change second ability to "
:The next time.....instead. Activate this ability only once each turn."
to avoid possibility of endless repetition. This would also let you use the replacement cost every turn - yours & your opponents which is truly Mythic.
As to first ability, it is way powerful. Could go "
: Add 3 mana of any colour to your mana pool." and add an ability between 1 & 2:
"
,Exile Pristine Powerstone: Add

to your mana pool." (or sacrifice).
With the first ability alone, it absolutely crushes Gilded Lotus. It's also possible to use the second ability to keep activating itself for
instead of
, but ultimately it doesn't accomplish much besides wasting everyone's time.
Mmm, good point. It's funny because I play a lot of black and my friends play green and white and say "This card is really lame. . ." whereas I say 'turn 1 swamp, turn 2 ancient tomb, Phyrexian Negator, done.
Ancient Tomb is much better than a typical land, so why would you expect its fair cost in artifact form to be less than
?
I was actually thinking about Ancient Tomb, one of my favorite cards.
At
it'd look a bit sad next to Palladium Myr (although that has summoning sickness).
would probably be the right place: clearly powerful, but not ludicrously overpowered. Like a Joraga Treespeaker, if you pay 2 mana on turn 2 it'll give it straight back; the damage makes up (ish) for it being nongreen.
make it cost
or
maybe
Mmm, a drawback Sol Ring. Still too good to be printed these days, I fear.
I entend to have all the creatures for this set as artifacts, the ones that weren't constructs or something would be colored. Any suggestions or ideas?
Edited. Thanks.
Not at all, considering that Auriok Windwalker is 2/3 Flying for
with no cost to the ability, you could probably even drop this to
as is.
You think he should cost more?
Ah, an Auriok Windwalker. I always wished there were more creatures with that ability.
