Why not just have quest lands? Reverse-XLN lands that transform into something if you meet certain criteria.
This is a bad design for many reasons, but maybe it will inspire someone else to make a better design.
That is an overly generic and uninspiring card. Nothing outside the cardnames actually would indicate the characters. Maybe the creature types, but princess is certainly a weirdly gendered version.
@link Please, do come make cards for the set :)
Indeed; it prompted this discussion:
Vitenka: [14:20] Teh implementation of "Gain an equipment each time you beat something" works really well, actually
AlexChurchill: [14:22] V: Except perhaps the equipment's CMC should be <= the toughness in question, or some such. To show the way he gets gradually better equipment as he beats more bosses.
Vitenka: [14:23] maybe? it's more random utility
Androidkiller: [14:24] tbh, in most of the Zelda games you get the equipment from a chest somewhere before the boss, which has a weakness to that equipment
Androidkiller: [14:24] That probably works well for a pair of cycles, actually. Boss and equipment from each dungeon
Vitenka: [14:25] I mean, really; you want to do something like "Reveal cards from the top of opponents library until you reveal a creature. Then go find a piece of equipment that can beat that creature and nothing else"
I made Link quite some time ago.
I feel like I should be making cards in this set.
Sheik teaches songs, which grant abilities. Zelda can be kidnapped; but never gets hurt.
And I like the idea of multiple zelda incarnations - all of whom have to be produced by different "I pretend to be.." or "I need rescuing". Don't forget Tetra the priate who totally isn't blatantly obviously zelda, honest.
I also quite like the idea of them transforming back any time you gain or lose the tri-force; but that's a bit overly specific. Thus - any artifact will do.
I had thought about making Sheik take a bit more effort to transform; but I think it's OK as it is. It's kinda phasing. Could give 'him' ninjitsu, I guess?
Huh; not sure why no image is appearing for the flip side.
Hmm, maybe some advantage to equipped creature having a colour, or attacking a specific colour?
I'd like a few link versions, to cover the different games. It feels like Twilight Princess Link should play differently from Wind Waker Link, etc.
I did. But actually... (was Invulnerable) This way you can at least use removal.
Reprint Impending Disaster?
Something else? Be nice to get time-rewinding in, but no subgames!
Also.. this playtest name needs to exist somewhere.
Do you mean "Indestructible"?
add an image; maybe not the one you had in mind
So; can't have a link without link.
One link?
Many link versions?
What colour is link? Green because well, that tunic? If not; what philosophy is the decision tree: "Is it the princess? Save it. Is it broken? Fix it. Is it absolutely anything else in the entire world? Break it." ?
Kind of a shame this has to be priced so high.
I don't think you want to be that parasitic with a set.
Tempted to suggest you let it shoot laser beams if the thing wielding it is undamaged, though :)
It feels like this should have some equivalent to being indestructible. Should probably also only allow it to be equipped to Link?
Deliberate that you can arm a bomb after you've gotten into a fight.
I have no idea how to implement; but plainly this should exist.
giving creature ping ability is the obvious, but dullest, option. And doesn't really capture the whole 'pulling levers, swinging over gaps etc.' part.
Basically Ebony Horse but we need to kick off with Link's trusty horse at some point.
