changed the haste granting ability
Tried to do a Gatherer search for any other keyword that "+all +creatures (or)have (or)gain -control" in Modern. But all I got was Mass Hysteria, a pile of Slivers, Clash of Realities, Magus of the Tabernacle and Rolling Stones. All rather poor examples.
For what it's worth, Mass Hysteria doesn't have the reminder text. It does come from 2003, admittedly.
Reflex Sliver also doesn't. But, you know. It's a sliver.
You're making 2HG players very unhappy then. Better off including the reminder text
For clarity purposes mainly. If I went with "all have haste" then I would have included a reminder text with "Including those your opponents control."
This convention would IMO also be the 'fix' for shroud if it's ever to make a return. Ie. "This [permanent] can't be the target of spells or abilities you or your opponents control" or even just "This [permanent] can't be targeted by you or your opponents."
Why not "all creatures have haste"?
I pretty much took the wording from Quick Sliver.
Do you mean "each"?
Ok, that second paragraph is the mythicness. Epic enchantment. Nice.
I kinda fear the horrible lockdown that a token generator deck can turn this into - because every single one lets you create more. And then, unless they have [Tranquility, that's game over. But meh, it's a three card combo, unless you can find enchantment-creatures.
So sure, nifty. And feels nicely mythic.
I'm not really a fan of modal spells since the modes don't tend to relate to each other in any way.
That's kind of a strange comment.
It makes me think it could be "may exile the top three cards of their library" but the flavor is destroying the dreams of those who haven't 'roughened up'.'
Another, which is quite different of a card, could be
> Target opponent discards a card. If they can't, they sacrifice an enchantment.
I guess that would be hating the oblivious, not naive per se.
I'd be happier with this kind of design if the default game state of a player had them have three cards in their graveyard.
name + flavor text edit
"Uncomfortable Truth" -> "Forget the Dreams"
This is an oldie that I made a long time ago, but I wrapped it in a more sensible flavor. I personally like this as a very specific, mechanical niche/'out' of sorts for . It can't still be used to get rid of your own enchantments.
On flavor text:
EDIT: The name is now a double reference where the 'dreams' are either the cards in graveyard or the enchantment to be sacrificed.
Meanwhile, in an alternative reality where artifacts aren't just completely ignoring the color pie...
... or you know, we could just say "screw it" and go with Aeolipile because why not? It's last printing is the using the new, "correct" terminology of "any target" so it must've done something right. We can just sit and wait for artifacts to erode the color pie away.
Do we even remember what it's like to see colors in cards lack thereof? The color pie is hurting. We don't need to win the war - just turn the tide.
EDIT: You can do a minor bend with this in a mono- by playing colorless creatures and then equipping this to such a creature. I find that acceptable :)
This isn't a strict upgrade but it isn't too far from it. With this you have to play the card on the same turn and can't save it up. You also can't do any discard shenanigans.
We actually have had strictly better versions of Raise Dead now, both of them tribal related: Ghoulcaller's Chant and March of the Drowned.
Anyway, I do too felt that this was a bit too blatant of an upgrade over Raise Dead so I just now added the restriction that the recurred creature needs to be ala Call to the Netherworld. It also seems to fit the general flavor so one could think of it as a 'strict' improvement on the design. Makes it less able to snatch enemies' creatures as well.
recurred creature now needs to be black
Copy paste? 👍
Yeah; evil unicode supporting text box of doom.
Strict upgrade on raise dead - in two ways. So possibly slightly too good. But I like the idea.
I recalled that card faintly as I was about to post that card. I'm not worried about it. For one thing, the difference is one word, one that is at the beginning of the card name so people won't have trouble distinguishing between the cards when searching for one of them (especially in autocomplete, suggestive searches). All Hallow's Eve is an obscure design, a "proto-Living Death / Living End" it seems - one which is on restricted list. English versions of it seem to be hanging around with a price tag of 200+ $. It's not a card that is seen much - I've personally never seen it being played.
... How did you get that thumbsup icon to appear?
Just a bit of a warning that All Hallow's Eve is a card already. If you're cool with it, then I'm cool with it.
Cool card, btw. 👍
now cost reduction is one ability that reduces by instead of two that reduce by each
