An odd surprise power-boost/removal spell.
This is intended as one of the mediocre blue cards, for sure. They (literally) can't all be winners!
This is an interesting comment because it brings up all three of the points we took into account when creating Psyche.
"Card disadvantage" - the way we designed Psyche, it's not so much pure disadvantage as it is replacing your "unknown" draw with a "known" effect (in this case, Battlegrowth). While the commons Psyche effects (especially this cycle) are a little underwhelming, there are others that I feel are very powerful (Itzent Stormseeker turns every draw into a guaranteed Shock).
Being able to skip draws would mesh very, very poorly with Dementia.
To counteract accidentally exiling good cards, there's a cycle (and a half) of cards that reveal the top card for a potential effect (e.g. (((Galerider Mage)))). And even in the moments where you do mill a good card, it'll often still be the right play, and I feel players would eventually become accustomed to that.
This is a card-draw-themed set, so there are cantrips everywhere. EDIT: Design notes are now up.
Fixed
Hm. A flash Riot Spikes for
more? Or perhaps an odd tweak on Feebleness or Grave Servitude.
Heh. Makes sense: the Day of Judgment update to Damnation.
I like it. The black Lightning Bolt. Reminiscent of Vendetta.
I like it. It's reminiscent of Plumeveil, but obviously cheaper and easier to cast in exchange for the 4 points of power.
Following in the fine tradition of Vendilion Clique, and, erm, Forget?
Feels a bit expensive, especially compared with Midnight Haunting. But it'd also feel wrong for this to be comparably costed with Midnight Haunting. It just feels wrong for blue to get a pure token-generation spell.
The simplest possible Frost Breath. Nice.
Psyche is an interesting mechanic. It'll normally be card disadvantage, and I can't help feeling in most cases people would be better not using their psyche abilities. But occasionally it'll let you get ahead.
I'm not sure about "exile it" rather than "skip that draw". Obviously it's much better if you know the top card of your library, but it feels like it'd lend itself to a lot of moments like "Argh, if I'd known that was the card I'd draw I wouldn't have psyched it!"
Wow. That's a strong Mind Control.
Well done for putting this at uncommon. Feels like the right place and cost to me.
I think of Mourning Thrull as the baseline for this. But black got an upgrade in the form of Vault Skirge, so I guess white can have one too.
Whoa. That's quite an upgrade on Pegasus Charger / Voiceless Spirit.
Hm. This has been green, blue, green/blue (Wistful Selkie), and white plus (green or blue) (Messenger Falcons). But I suppose the very first cantrip creature was Carrier Pigeons. This does look somewhat odd to modern eyes.
Hm. I think I'd normally rather have Blinding Angel.
What's the P/T?
