Balance Notes: Per Champion of Arashin, vanilla white commons can add lifelink for approximately extra, and per Hopeful Eidolon as compared to Trained Caracal, adding bestow doesn't really need to change mana cost on this. So I think we're alright. Sorry for the roundabout precedent, there are surprisingly no mono-white 3-drop commons with lifelink ever.
What did this replace in green, out of curiosity?
Also, I've always thought that massive sea monsters are green in philosophy despite living in a sea, but the color pie says otherwise (and I'm generally inclined to follow it). Thoughts?
I've been studying color philosophies. Purelakers are actually green, despite the fact that they live in a sea.
Thanks for rounding out the set, Samuel. :) You beat me to it by one day.
Okay, while you are developing, I'm going to go through and sort out final versions of name and flavor, and add flavor text. Try not to significantly alter the flavor of a card now if you can help it. Thanks.
Balance Notes: Reprint.
Balance Notes: Watch out for this if we playtest. As a card with the potential to grow into a defensive powerhouse in the lifegain deck, this could be too much against some aggressive builds. I think it's okay though.
Balance Notes: It's Kithkin Greatheart, but drops the first strike for an easier tribe condition to meet.
Balance Notes: Pretty similar to Lagonna-Band Elder in power, which is fine.
Balance Notes: As far as precedent is concerned, the closest thing I could find is Reveille Squad. Comparing to that is hard, but I think this is okay— it's an easier condition (doesn't require this to be untapped itself) but it's weaker and only untaps specific creatures.
2/1 --> 2/2 for balance.
Balance Notes: This seems weak. for a 2/1 first striker with vigilance would be a mediocre or even weak uncommon, so at common this can probably be a bit better than it is now.
Balance Notes: Closest precedent being Child of Thorns in green, I think this is alright. The added activation cost merits the toughness.
Balance Notes: It's a functional reprint, we're good.
Balance Notes: Seems reasonable— a two-mana 3/1 with a conditional benefit. See Kor Castigator for a comparable example (difference being that Castigator cares about your opponent's build rather than your draw luck). This might beat Castigator slightly, but it's fine.
Devout for lifelink --> devout for lifelink and vigilance.
Balance Notes (I'm going through and doing this for everything): Seems somewhat weak compared to something like Sungrace Pegasus. How do we fix this? Maybe granting it an additional ability with the devout? Let's try adding vigilance to the devout bonus and see how it goes.
This should be fun... good enough for a hypothetical standard, but probably not for modern. Still... if you untap with it, you're attacking with a 4/5 trampler on turn 4. Also combos with the green blade.
Combos (in a really weird way) with the red shardblade. I know it's not an instant, but it's still fun.
Oh, I forgot about that. Let me think about it.
