Doesn't this type of signet usually cost {2}? Selesnya Signet

The signets are considered too good or something?

Yeah, the signets were too good when printed. Otoh, a strict downgrade looks bad.

Damnit, whyfor are wizards so very much against actually usable mana fixing? If it costs more than 2, I can't cast it while manascrewed, which removes the whole point of playing with it. Grumble grumble.

But yeah; add some small compensation. Scry on ETB or something.

Well, I guess at two mana you can have your choice of ramp and mana fixing - just both at once is too much.

On the other hand at three mana you get Selesnya Cluestone, so a small upside woul be possible.

+1/+1 seems a lot more appropriate for some of these color combos than others. See for example the Teetering Peaks cycle, where each color had a minor effect in its color rather than a uniform one. I'd either want unique effects that match the colors, or a more generic effect (like the suggestion of scry) that goes with anything.

Eh, I contemplated granting a shared keyword until I remembered UB has no keyword. I personally hate scry, so I try to avoid it if possible.

I was going to suggest +2/+2 to make up for the unfortunate cost. While Signets aren't 'allowed to be printed', I get the impression that they're still the benchmark. In the same way that Wizards doesn't print land destruction that costs 3 anymore, but they price all their land destruction as if Stone Rain was still a viable card.

But if this is supposed to be on every two color combination? Yeah, +2/+2 isn't appropriate for everything. How about +1/+1 and an appropriate keyword? +1/+1 and Vigilance matches White/Green.

The filers are only allied two-color pairings. +1/+1 and an appropriate keyword sounds find if you think that's where the power level needs to be. My issue again is that blue and black don't share a keyword.

Sure they do. They share flying.

Of course, that doesn't solve the 'what does blue and white share?' problem. Maybe Protection from Artifacts? It's not that great an ability, but I got to admit that it would be real funny when it wins a game.

Hasn't protection gotten kicked out of evergreen status? I mean, I could tack mill on, but a few cards isn't likely to help anything.

By the logic of blue-black sharing flying, blue-white share flash. Which, actually looking at it, flash is still tertiary in white it seems when it comes to creatures. But, wait, flash wouldn't help here.

Blue and white share prowess, but that's also not great here

Forgot about Protection going out of favor. That's unfortunate. I like protection. But it's four abilities, so getting rid of it makes sense.

I'm sure we'll see the pieces of protection become abilities some time in the future. Maybe some will stick, and maybe some won't. But I'm expecting to see...

1.) Can't be blocked by X.
2.) Prevent all damage from X.
3.) Hexproof for X.

as keywords. Eventually. May take a while, though.

It's really hard making a decent cycle. Maybe GW could have "gain 3 life"?

It seems they said Prowess may be tertiary in white, but they haven't printed any cards with it except when it was the Jeskai mechanic, so I'm not sure if it will actually be used like that or not.

If GW had "Gain 3 life" I could do UB tapping a creature, GR destroying (up to one) non-creature artifact, UB milling and BR... well, there's something there at least, unlike a UB creature evergreen.

{g/w} both get lifegain, {w} more than {g}, but it seems reasonable. 3 might be too much, but eh, that's what tuning is for.

But wow of those effects, the proposed {g/r} one is in a league of its own. The rest are "Yeah, ok, nice bonus" and this one is "Ok, so I hold back casting until I need this effect".

I think cycles like this is one of the reasons they made scry all-colour evergreen, really.

All of these effects should be something you could put on a 1 or 2 mana cantrip. They should be a bonus on top of the mana rock. RG could get +1/+1 until end of turn.

Eh, I'll just stick with +1/+1 for now.
