This kind of effect is avoided nowadays, if I recall, for reasons of it being pretty miserable.

You've made a very interesting design choice here, though, that I think we could try to apply to more of this uncommon cycle - splitting the effect into two parts, with one part becoming another color. I like that a lot.

We got Orbs of Warding not long ago, and it is not entirely unlike Dampening Pulse. I do know that they avoid giving this ability to creatures.

I was looking for something to play against an army of thopters other than making your own army of thopters to block them.

Ah, I didn't see the "you". That makes it fine, yeah. Orbs of Warding is rare, mind you!
