It is a little strange that this wants lots of black mana when I usually thing of off color activation as the splash. Could it be 1B for +2/+2?

Is this mechanic always going to be an artifact? I like cheap regeneration more on an aura. (sometimes the correct play will be to regenerate and re-equip before combat and that is un-intuitive)

Agreed with Jackal, regenerating on equipment is weird.
