The ability reads Auratouched Mermaid in the first line. Also, is the staying on the battlefield part necessary? I haven't seen any cards written like that.

Among others, Auratouched Mage checks if it's still on the battlefield when the ability resolves.
This was going to be a mix of Academy Researchers and Auratouched Mage. It costs between 3 and 6, its body is between 2/2 and 3/3, and it includes the colored mana costs.
When you play only inside a block, it's hard to make modular cards. This one, for example, seemed like cheating if it got an Impenetrable Skin from Liberia, so the text says "white or blue". On the other hand, the obvious choice is Honorable Cause, so in Block this is just a 5/6 finisher for control that resists Punisher Dwarf. It's outside that you can play with it a lot more, even though Auratouched Mage probably already fits that role.
