I had a crazy idea I wanted to get some feedback on. Wanted a card to "break" apart into a bunch of smaller cards when it got damaged. Not sure what the cost would be, or even what rarity it would probably end up in (I'm thinking uncommon at LEAST, probably a bulk rare sort of card though). The numbers/colorssubtype/wording/etc. are negotiable as this is just a sort of idea I was having.

Reminds me of Mongrel Pack. It'd be a lot simpler to use the Symbiotic Elf/Symbiotic Beast/Symbiotic Wurm approach. There's also Sekki, Seasons' Guide playing in a similar space.

Yeah, makes more sense to use the already existing approaches. But even so, a flying creature with 15 toughness with a death trigger that makes a bunch of small fliers is a bit much, so I think using the already existing methods and making it smaller would be the way to go.

Actually, I think going with Sekki, Season's Guide format would work better with my idea, but would using +0/+1 counters be a thing that could be realistic today?

now following similar formatting to Sekki, Season's Guide.

Originally a 0/15 that was exiled when damaged and put 15 - the damage dealt worth of 0/1 bird tokens onto the battlefield. I am unsure about the use of +0/+1 counters (as I stated earlier), so this card may again change to work similar to the other cards mentioned by Alex above.

15 is too many to be sensible, and +0/+1 counters are a bit passé.

I figured 15 may have been too many, I just decided to keep the number the same as the original version for now. I think I'll just make it something along the lines of a 0/5 flyer that becomes 5 0/1 flyers when it dies. I don't actually know though. I can't figure out what would be an "appropriate" toughness for this ability on a flying creature.

Any anthem effect, Blasting Station, and Impact Tremors would be a fun combo. I worry that relying on it having 0 toughness isn't the best way to kill it once it runs out of counters. An anthem alone makes it indestructible to damage and a persistent source of tokens.

Similar problems occurred with Judgment's Phantoms like Phantom Centaur and Phantom Nishoba. It wasn't a big issue there.
