(Hmm, no, I don't think I did.)
Fascinating. My first thought is "What happens if I cast this using Vedalken Orrery/Quicken when there are creatures in combat?" And the answer is "you deal lots of damage to each blocker! Cool!"
(Right? I was very confused when I saw that.)
That's one of the intents of the design. Linger is very confusing, though.
