Wow, why is this common?
I didn't know what I was doing with this card other than making a big whitey.
What's a good way to make a large white card that can attack, but won't be any threat at all?
What's the difference between this and an 8/8 with defender?
Can't deal damage, could still be enchanted to make it force them to discard, or ninjitsu'd or... ooh, instant speed have all its abilities anulled :) (Or the thing it blocks could have abilities removed) - or what happens if it's given deathtouch nowadays?
But mostly, yeah, it's an overpriced, white, Wall of Stone.
Definately not overpriced. If anything it's too cheap. 8/8 Defender for

is probably too good, and more often than not, wouldn't be printed because it discourages attacking (though, could be printed if development decided that they got to stop creatures from attacking so often. That's a rare problem, but I assume it's got to happen sometime). The fact that this card smashes for the win if you Fling it, is just icing on the cake.
Or you could throw it with a goblin, or make it explode, or use something that has it fight something and it can't attack if you globally nullify defender and.. yeah, it's different in a lot of ways. It's a card Alex would build a deck around :)
The more I think about the wording, the more boggled I get. I assume the first line is technically "Prevent all damage GLC would deal to players". Otherwise, my head hurts a little when I try to warp it around "GLC can't deal damage to players". How come? He got a thing against players? He seems willing to deal damage to creatures... feels like some weird double standard that he's created for himself. Once upon a time, I used to deliver the mail, and I swear, I knew guys like this.
Hm. If it does count as prevention, then Everlasting Torment would neatly negate both disadvantages :)
