A friend's idea for a land, just wanted to see what would need to be done to balance it out.
This is strictly better than "ETBT,
: Add
", which is way too powerful.
Yeah, I figured that, I was just wanted to see ways to make it not way too powerful.
Mmm. Okay.
So a land that taps for
is notoriously hard to balance. One way would be to make it ETBT and require a land sacrifice. At that point it's probably a bit worse than Rakdos Carnarium, but the Ravblock karoos are considered too good for a normal expansion anyway so that's where you want to be.
I had a go at making a 2-mana land with Fool's Paradise. I think that probably manages to not be overpowered, though at the cost of normally being unplayably bad. Other 2-mana lands on Multiverse that I think aren't overpowered: Gesh-Odt's Leaf, Tilled Field and its cycle, Clear Field which is a tweak on Ruins of Trokair, Desert Pool which is explosive for all players, Card5699 which is like Temple of the False God, Garden Graveyard which is like Phyrexian Tower, and possibly Rok Byn's Leaf.
Edit: Thought of another couple of search terms that turned up a couple more 2-mana lands that I think aren't overpowered: Firewatch Tower, Orms-by-Gore, Quiescent Volcano, and possibly Grave Font.
I could deal with it being a bit worse than Rakdos Carnarium, so for now I'll format it to require the sac and still enter tapped.
changed to entering tapped AND requiring a sacrifice.
@Alex, you're right, there have been some reasonable efforts at 2 mana lands on multiverse, I'm quite impressed. Alas, I think your last comment on Fool's Paradise was apt: it's possible to produce a land which produces two mana but not immediately (Tilled Field makes sense), but I'm not sure if it's possible to produce a two-mana-immediately land that isn't broken -- even Fool's Paradise itself, if you use it in a combo, you don't care about the downside.
