Very interesting. I like this.

Too powerful, I think. Most lands have to be sacrificed to cause land destruction--Strip Mine, Wasteland, etc. This not only generates colored mana, but you also get to keep it. I think a second drawback may be at in order.

Could perhaps be a Ghost Quarter effect? "When ~ ETBs, destroy target nonbasic land. Its controller searches his or her library for a basic land card, puts it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffles his or her library."
