I wanted to try out this website, so I decided to make something. I'm not sure abou with the mana and evoke costs, or the power and toughness, for that matter. Anyway, I'm not too serious about this card, but go ahead and leave feedback if you like.

I always like cantrip creatures, like Sea Gate Oracle. This is a strong take on it - it's not just a cantrip, it's Unhinge. And you can spend it as Unhinge if you evoke it. Or for just 1 more mana, you can get a Latch Seeker too. Yow.

The evoke cost seems perfectly balanced - same CMC as Unhinge, but an extra colour to balance it out. Cheaper than Brainbite but less choice.

Getting a 3/1 unblockable along with your Unhinge for just 1 mana extra seems slightly too strong. I'm also not keen on monoblue getting a discard effect. So I'd rather make this a 2/2 for {2}{u}{b}, or keep it at 3/1 (or 3/2) for {3}{u}{b}.

Hey movezig! I'd put in my two cents on balance, but I think Alex caught every angle. The only other criticism I'd add is one from a 'fun' angle instead of one of whether the card is fair or not. The Evoke is great... the cost is perfect for Unhinge plus. But for only one more mana, I could get a lot more value.

You'd think that would make players happy, but that's bound to cause a lot of 'feel bad' moments. If a player's hand consisted of a Swamp, and a four drop, and three lands on the table, the correct play would be to Evoke a Spirit on round 3, play the four drop on four, and assume you'll draw something good in 3 cards and two rounds. But a lot of players wouldn't take the right play. It would almost physically hurt them to miss the opportunity to get more value out of the card.

I'd suggest spacing the cost and the evoke, not for balance issues, but to make the card more fun to play. If that means the power and toughness need to rise, so be it.

I altered the mana cost as per your suggestions. I decreased the power, for balance, and increased the toughness, for flavor purposes.

Do you think I should make this a 1/3? I feel it would be underpowered that way, but it would help the flavor.

Gave it a rarity.

2/3 is fine. I wouldn't want to nerf the card. The truth is (not counting the extra color) this card is more powerful than Mulldrifter, which is a very strong card in its own right. Most people probably won't perceive the card as being as strong as Mulldrifter, though. Personally, I think it's better to match player's initial expectations, even if that means making a stronger than usual card.

Oh, also, I should point out that the usual place for people to post random cards is in the set Cards With No Home. Hey, Alex! Cards With No Home has 289 cards in it. It's like a set unto itself, now. A very, very confused set of cards.

Ah, I hadn't got the flavour connection to Shadowmage Infiltrator until you mentioned the 1/3ness. That said, no, I think this is fine as a 2/3; in fact given it's 5 mana it could probably be 2/4 or 3/3.

Mm, the other point is that "can't be blocked" is a very juicy line of text on a card. It's the kind of thing players want to have fun with. So it's going to be disappointing when the best use of the unblockable creature is actually holding it back to deter the opponent's 2/2s from attacking.

Therefore, in order to make the most fun play line up with the best play, I'd say this would probably be better with more power than toughness. 3/2 sounds fine, by comparison with Latch Seeker and Keymaster Rogue. Even if it gets hit with Shock, you've already got your Unhinge effect so players won't feel too bad.

I did a complete overhaul. Tell me what you think.

I'm not sure I like the "spirit" part, flavorwise. Anyone have a suggestion for something that could be "evoked?"
