Is there a reason this used to make Plant Hydra creature tokens?
The traditional "plant token" is a saproling, isn't it?

In any case, I suspect the token was supposed to be a reference to Phytohydras
That would be correct. I intended for him to be planting Phytohydras specifically. Nice to know that came through. :)

I guess they could just be 1/1 saprolings. I liked the reference to Phytohydras though.
They're not 1/1s either. These tokens are x/x tokens, so they're not saporlings, and they don't have any phytohydra like abilities (and aren't even from the same plane) so they're not hydras either.
Plants seem to work just fine for this.
