I'm not sure this need the third ability, the first two feel like enough.

I think this card needs to be trimmed down a bit. MaRo has talked at various times about how threshold mechanics are always complexity sinks and this one feels like it is no exception. Whatcha guys think we should do about this one?

on 04 Oct 2013 by The Humanity:

Just leave the first two abilities. Usually by land 4 it's a first strike haste 3/3, which is pretty swell in set of 2/2 creatures.

To me, it seems silly that it would have both first strike and double strike.

on 16 Oct 2013 by Doombringer:

Please remove the last ability, makes it too complex and unintuitive.Especially for an uncommon.

Given artifacts in graveyards looks to be an important archetype for red, maybe we should be cutting the second ability instead of the first?

I think that main issue is with the third ability not the first. The Thrid ability is a threshold mechanic of the worse kind (I.E. It's the only card with that particular threshold.)

I think the problem is that it has three abilities, not necessarily that the last one is bad. Personally I'd be fine even if this were the only card that cared.

We already have a few cards that reward you for having artifacts in your graveyard, but having this get a bigger buff for going deep (and having many artifacts in your graveyard) would help the archetype.

If we want to go with it getting a bigger buff for more artifacts shouldn't we go more exact scaling instead? i.e. "Taurox Scrapdiver gets +1/+0 for each artifact in each graveyard."

Possibly, I kinda like that idea. Maybe he should just have first strike and get +1/+0, or potentially double strike and start at 0 power?

+1/+0 and first strike is pretty cool.

Are you guys agreeing to the scaling +1/+0 per artifact in the graveyard or to a flat +1/+0 for just having any one artifact in the graveyard?

on 06 Nov 2013 by The Humanity:

I like the scaling. I'll always take a lhurgoyf over a threshold, because it can get super epic. Getting a 10/3 for 4 mana in limited is that story the Timmy in me craves, it makes counting the cards in my graveyard less of a chore and suddenly super exciting. Boneyard Wurm is a recent card that made me super excited.

I second the scaling +1/+0 for artifacts in the graveyard. That makes for cool moments and lets this be a fun build-around uncommon for Limited. First strike sounds like a little much to me, but testing could prove me wrong.

Changed to scaling with artifacts in graveyards.

Minor formatting thing: It should be "...+1/+0 for each artifact card in...".

Also, should it be checking all graveyards? Seems like a lot to keep track of.

Thanks for the wording fix.

Considering artifacts in graveyards is a theme in this set, particularly in red, I don't feel it's too far off.
