I feel like this ought to be uncommon, since it doesn't work the same as the other Spellslingers. I could see this getting misread quite often.

There's one in red too, so that helps a little. But yes, there is an opinion that says these don't belong.

Would this be easier to parse for people if it was just split among two abilities (one with discard a card, and one with discard an artifact)? In theory, that would also give you the ability to split the costs differently, if you wanted to.

Mm, like Viscerid Drone and a few other creatures from that era.

For what it's worth, I've never really like how these diverge from the normal Spellslinger template. Spellshapers never really diverged that much from the normal template for those card, the only time being with the Rare cycle from prophecy requiring two cards instead of one.

Something like this would be more appropiate in [Steam] or [Ahead] than as a Common in Archester.

I think we might want to think about scraping this particular design and coming up with another similar design. Maybe we can put up a "hole-filling" post in the CCC forum over on salvation and see what they can come up with.

I've always liked these cards, but I seem to be in the minority on that one.

This is crazy at common for limited. Repeatable removal of this quality should definitely be uncommon.

To be fair, it's only repeatable if you've got artifacts in hand.
