This does none of the mechanical things artifacts do to distinguish themselves from enchantments, so how about making it an enchantment?
Would make a good aura, actually. Or if you do want it to be an artifact - how about equipment? (In both cases with the obvious rider that it untaps the thing it attached to)
Was originally "Whenever you would gain life you may untap target creature instead."
"tap or untap" is usually the blue thing to do.
It's really weird that the triggered ability exists only on the equipped creature but affects any target creature - though tapping by the time lifelink gains you life is also unusual.
Is this a top-down design or has it a specific mechanical purpose. I really am stumped by the life/tap connection here.
Removed option of tapping creatures.
The option of tapping creatures wasn't useful on this card and would have only have worked if you were gaining life at other times.
And I have no idea what I was thinking when I designed the card originally. I maybe wanted a white artifact, or maybe just thought of a white card.
Edited to not go infinite (without a third piece at least) with Astrologer Apostle.
