Proposed by Ben in the same discussion thread as Flexible Bird, this is delightfully on-curve for each of its possible casting spots:

This is so beautiful.

Agreed, though, really it should have started as a 1/1. Woolly Thoctar is already a 4.16 star card. A Woolly Thoctar where you made your own casting cost up for it on the fly would already be too good... never mind the other options.

Yeah, it is actually pushing it quite a bit. I'm not convinced {1}{g}{b} or {1}{g}{u} should get a 4/3 - that's probably at least as good as Dreg Mangler - and this is waayy more flexible than Woolly Thoctar. Base 1/1 would also be rather more grokkable. It's just a design that I found so delightful I thought it shouldn't just be relegated to a random comment on a random blog post :)

Interestingly, Tajuru Stalwart explored very similar space! But indeed rather less pushed, and without the twobrid option to make the mono-green version cheaper.

I'm happy/sad to Wizards play with converge. Suddenly, my cool {x} spells in New Mirrodin don't seem very unique. But it's good design space to explore, so I'm glad they moved into it.
