So, I'm really curious about the appeal of the next episode keyword. I vaguely understand the thematic idea, but I'm not too certain on whether it mechanically hits home.

Part of the issue certainly is that these cards are extra verbose even considered they are double-faced and even considered they are Cases.

Before I dive deeper into this, one thing though: You seem to be fundamentally confused about how transforming a Case would work. The first triggered ability that you put on every face is entirely superfluous: A solved Case that transforms will not stop being solved (unless you go out of your way e. g. exiling it and returning it transformed - which you don't do).

I suggest you remove everything regarding rerun counters and change the reminder text to: "Next Episode {1}{r} ({1}{r}: Transform this Case. Activate this ability only if this case is solved. It remains solved.)"

That's a relief to hear about mechanic of being solved itself. That makes it less wordy.

This was obviously a top-down mechanical design- a vain passion project.

Case felt like the flavor and mechanical answer to capturing the idea of watching a story told across two episodes. Mechanically, Case has already been used to solve a mystery, the plot of an episode of a show like The X-Files. Cases solved being static felt like the correct transformation where being solved is retained and the ability feels like a rewatch already familiar to the viewer.

I did not consider making the Case transformation ability sorcery speed. I do think I misworded Unexplained Doorway. Escape from Dusmourn's solved should be "Once each turn, whenever you could cast a creature or planeswalker spell, you may cast a creature or planeswalker spell from your graveyard by paying its mana cost."
