Yay, discussion on this thread made me realise another one of the Peculiar Distortion family. Red gets Word of Seizing and Zealous Conscripts. Red gets Crack the Earth and Misguided Rage. Does red get Vindicate or Maelstrom Pulse? Um...

This is somewhat similar to Grab the Reins (pairing Threaten with Fling to get "destroy target creature" in an Agonizing Demise kinda way), but the principle can be extended from just creatures to all kinds of permanents to feel even more out-of-pie.

match Grab the Reins's wording

Catch // Release shows Wizards' take on this idea. They made you need {u}{r}{w} to get both halves at once.

Wizards' version also makes you sacrifice a bunch more things, of course.

Your entwine cost feels off to me somehow. I think you could get away with it just being {w}, maybe? Or {w/b}? It's the inclusion of {g} that's throwing me, I think.

I don't think "destroy target permanent" should be either {w}{r} nor {r}{b}. All Vindicate effects (more modern than Desert Twister) are {w}{b} or {g}{b}.

Well, or {7}, as on Spine of Ish Sah, Scour from Existence, Unstable Obelisk, Universal Solvent. Which amusingly suggests this is actually somewhat weak when played as a 6-mana Vindicate. "Target player" could easily become "Each player": that's worse in the un-entwined case, but better in the entwined case, amusingly.

I could make a case for RW. W likes to pretend it doesn't have "destroy target creature", but it sort of does, and I feel like pie-wise, red could shore up the loophole-removal white usually gets. But I agree, BG and BW are the classic colours, and the only completely justified ones.

I think this spell also feels a little weak when you're aiming "sacrifice a permanent" at yourself, it feels like you should get something extra for that. But I can't think of anything that works well.
