Say my opponent sacrifices two creatures to revoke this. Can I pay {4} or sacrifice a creature and pay {2} to prevent the counter, or do I have to sacrifice two creatures as well?

The idea is cool, but I'd be happier if we were fighting over the triggered ability and not the whole spell. Getting a creature as a consolation prize would be nice... even if that meant I was getting a 2/2 for 3.
