Hmmm. This is usually pointless, since the creature only survives for a main2 phase. It does work as a pre-emptive defence, opponent can't kill your blocker then charge through, and sacrifice outlets get a second bite at the cherry.
Hard to work out what it's for in THIS set though; since no card in set has casting cost, and you haven't given the rules yet :)
